--

This is the wine memory of the historic 'Rosso Matelica' at the end of the 1800's: it is produced with 50% of Sangiovese grapes, and the rest is made with Merlot, Cabernet and Ciliegiolo, and it represents the strong red wine of Belisario. It is characterized by a long maceration of the grape peels, never less than 15 days, they are then sent to be matured inside of 50 hl seasoned oak barrels where they are raised for at least 12 months. After being refined inside bottles for at least 6 months, the wine is then marketed around two years before vintage. In San Leopardo, it is the amount of years that create the set of organoleptic wine, accomplishing a balance of aromas, between fruit, fermentation, maturation and wood, to which only the wiseness of time may orchestrally counduct.
